La Grande, OR
Recapitalized and renovated in 2011 from the IRC Section 42 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program and other State Housing sources, La Grande Retirement Apartments serves individuals and households that are 62 years and older and/or disabled of any age and offers project-based rental assistance to most households. Renovations included major work on the building envelope, new windows, numerous energy-efficiency upgrades, updated unit interiors, appliances, building systems, and accessibility improvements. Today, residents at 50% area median income or below enjoy new attractive drought-tolerant landscaping, a large community room with games and a library open for resident use and resident service events, on-site laundry, and easy access to shopping, medical centers, public transportation, and other city amenities.
In 2019, rooftop solar systems were installed through a partnership with Fleet Development (www.fleetdevelopment.org) which will eventually reduce residential and operational usage by 40-95%.
